I thought things were ok, because Jack didn't yelp or bark. But when I got back home after about 2 hours, Jack had really been anxious. He'd pooped in the cage and the pad was all really a mess. Then when I offered him a treat with peanut butter on it, he wouldn't take it.
He is back eatting his treats now, but it is starting all over on the crate. I have to leave the house again on Thursday and he will have to be left alone.
I hope he does ok without being in his crate. Don't know if I will put him in it or not???????
I did do a do right today...I brushed Jack really good. I kept smelling what I thought was poo...he had some that dried in his big bushy tail from yesterday's ordeal. It's all better now! and no more smelly dog. I just couldn't figure out where that odor was coming from! A little poo goes a long way!

Awww. I'm sorry Jack got so scared. Poor boy

I know you've been working hard to get him used to the crate. Perhaps he has some separation anxiety too? I have never used a crate with any of my dogs so I don't have any tips about that. Are you concerned that he will be destructive in some way if you leave him alone in the house? Perhaps there is a way to test the waters by just going away for a very short time and seeing what happens?? And if it goes well, you could build up to leaving him on his own in the house for a longer time? Kind of like "exposure/de-sensitization therapy" for humans!!! I hope it works out ok!
