Well, this person is NOT acting in your best interests, but I understand how you do not want to be filled with resentment.
Resentment is anger turned inward. Also, think of it this way. The people we are resenting don't KNOW we are resenting them, so they are living rent free in our heads!! All we are doing is hurting ourselves. Resentment is like a cancer -- it eats us up. It's best to just forgive the person because they just don't know any better. Their upbringing was such that they don't have the tools that you do to deal with REAL friendships. So see if you can forgive them -- it's for you as much as it is for them. God bless and take care.
