I don't know if sharing your Dissociative Disorder with those that you aren't close to is necessary. Personally, I think that the illness is widely unrecognized in society. Illnesses that general public doesn't understand typically doesn't get a lot of sympathy or compassion. Instead, people jump to dramatic conclusions about what your life is like.

The decision is up to you. We could always use general education out there in society. You can use this opportunity to teach them, if you have a pretty good understanding of it yourself. No matter what decision you make, I'll support you. Best wishes to you!
