I'm sorry about your brother.
And actually alot of disorders such as bipolar, anxiety, depression etc goes on through family members. I know with my family both my mom and grandma suffered anxiety, my mom not anymore but my grandma is an agroaphobic. Also my mom's uncle has anxiety and depression I believe, and my cousin suffers from anxiety and ADD, so it definatly run in the family. Yes it is up to you to get help, if that's what you feel will help you. Getting diagnosed and getting treated is definatly a plus, but it's gotta be something you want to do.
I am not bipolar but I do suffer from clinical depression and others.
Hang in there hon.
and take care of yourself.
