I doubt it's either of those, but I'm on an antibiotic now, so hopefully I'll be better.

But, she said that I needed to miss work and school for the rest of the week. And I called my boss and told her.

For those who know, she claims I have missed more than I actually have. Rather, she said I called in for those, when I just did what she said was okay for 4 out of the 6 times. She told me today, that calling in is when she has to find someone herself. So, if my boss is using that logic, I have not called in 6 times. I have only called in 2 times. And I can't argue that with my boss, because I'll get in trouble!

Well, I'm really pissed, because I have a doctor's note this time, saying I have to miss and my boss said that if I don't find someone myself to cover the shifts, I am going to be in trouble.

First of all, she never explained to me the call in process. That is not something I should have to ask myself. Secondly, a doctor is saying I should not go to work and school, because I am really sick and really contagious. I work in a nursing home. I'm supposed to go in super sick. Does this make any sense to you? My boss cares more about having shifts covered than the health of the residents.

So, I'm just really, really, really pissed right now, because this is absolutely ridiculous. I at least more than likely have these two shifts covered. Thankfully. But I feel like I should look for a new job....
I'm sorry this is happening, and worse when you're so sick! I'd clarify with her once and for all exactly what her call-in policy is to avoid future misunderstandings. For what it's worth, it doesn't sound like she wants you to come in sick, it sounds like she wants you to find replacements (if I'm understanding this right, in the sense that if you can't find people I don't think she would force you to work with a doctor's note and working in a nursing home).

I work in a hospital and the weekend people are often asked to find replacements if it's last minute -usually amongst the other weekend people, just because it's so hard to find people. Covering shifts is such an issue in healthcare, I don't think any other job is like that.

Does she usually get temps from an agency? Does she always ask employees to find their own replacements? I'd check with other employees and see if she's doing this consistently.

Hope you feel better soon and best of luck working things out with your boss!
