My therapist says it is normal for some people for alters to join together but that they are not actually merging but just co-existing at the same time sharing memories and feelings etc.
Just wondering if anybody else gets this with theirs.

here where I live and work what you described is called being co conscious, co consciousness.. everyone has their own internal system based on what they needed to survive.. as a result some needed to be more aware of some of their alters then others. Sometimes co consciousness is like hearing the voices other times its knowing/watching what is going on from a distance, other times its like being like one where both alter and the host are so conscious of each other that its like being one together, but then sometimes the host or the alter encounter something that cant be shared so one or the other closes their self off from the other.
On rare occasions this happened to me but with most of my system we had very little co consciousness (some places use the term awareness) of each other.
