I dunno if it's a board certified grounding technique, but boy has it worked for me.
I'm not sure if it's part of the illness or just my broken brain but I get thinking about something and can't stop. So I found myself obsessing over a girl situation and my job hunt and just current situation in general. I tried some other grounding techniques and just couldn't get the thoughts out of my head.
So I put on a playlist of high energy music I know all the words to (for me, that's my 'Portugal. The Man' happy time playlist) and went in my backyard and just sang at medium volume, danced around like a crazy person (little do they know, ha) and smoked a couple ciggs for about 20 minutes. I now have a clear head.
This probably may not be ideal in many situations (e.g. work or any time during the day), but it was perfect for home alone (or everyone else asleep) in the middle of the night.
I invite everyone to try it! Good luck!
