I'm new to mental health forums, and have some questions about abbreviations that I've seen.

IP? There is a thread here that is titled Considering IP again. What is IP?

I've seen some others in bipolar specific threads.

tdoc? Is this your therapist?
pdoc? Is this your psychologist? psychiatrist?

What would your family medicine/md be called?

Is there a glossary somewhere that would help me?
here in NY IP is used for the words In Patient (meaning treatment inside a hospital or other treatment center that requires you to stay there for an extended amount of time. it also stands for intensive Psychotherapy meaning long term and in depth therapy program.

here in NY we dont use the words tdoc our therapists are called clinical social workers, therapists and counselors interchangably meaning which ever term the client is most comfortable with.

here in NY we do use the term PDoc meaning a psychiatrist or psychologist..
