I feel ya! I have narcolepsy, so I basically spend my life trying to stay awake. Because with narcolepsy, you can get all the sleep you want, but you never feel rested.
As far as motivation and getting yourself to get focused...I've found that taking 20-30 minutes to exercise beforehand helps you feel more awake and more focused and motivated. Also, make a to-do list that is reasonable, and very very specific.
