I hate using this line on you - but it is sooooooo true "until you are a parent you really can not understand".

Speaking as a father - I can not express to you how badly I would be crushed if my child would not come to me when they are hurting. And as for the money.?.?.? I promise you - they do not want the money. They would trade everything they own versus losing you.
