My late paternal grandma was an obstetrician until she semi-retired to become a gynecologist (you know - no on-call duties, not midnight deliveries, etc. - she actually called herself RETIRED but she did work during the days

).
So in that semi-retired stage she mostly consulted perimenopausal and menopausal women and I remember being a little girl and listening on her phone conversations. I still remember "as long as there is even a little bit of spotting...". I do not remember the continuation of the conversation, but probably she was warning women and telling them that they still should use protection.
