So apparently the average amount of time spent on homework for high school students is about 3.5 hours a day, which is far from what I'm doing.
I'm a sophomore taking honors English, Chinese, Pre-Calculus, Honors Chemistry, and AP European History. On average I get about half an hour of English, half an hour of Chinese, an hour of math, an hour of chemistry, and an hour and a half of AP Euro- which adds to 4.5 hours (not too bad I guess) but it takes me much longer to accomplish due to my inability to concentrate. I get home at around 4:30-5:00 on the average day due to extracurriculars and usually stay up until midnight working on homework, usually without even taking a break for dinner.
My question is, is it normal to spend this much time on something that should only take 4 and a half hours? Is it normal to have this much homework (excluding studying and assuming that it's done without breaks or lapses in concentration)? How damaging is it to my health? Note: I also have a 0 period class that starts at 6:45 AM which means that I wake up at 5:30
