Just happened to see your post. The number equals the number of seconds it takes for your blood to start clotting. So a high # means a higher risk for bleeding during a surgery. Lots of things can effect it: blood thinning Rx, Vit E, daily aspirin, eating a lot of kale as mentioned, ginko biloba, fish oil supplements, garlic supplements, and I'm sure other stuff I don't remember. I'm sure the hematologist will ask you about any supplements/medications/foods you ingest. So don't worry yet that you have some disorder.
