I'm sure the hematologist will ask you about any supplements/medications/foods you ingest. So don't worry yet that you have some disorder.

Hugs to all who want them.

I did get in to see my sup this afternoon. He gave me a suggestion for handling a certain type of call and also answered a question for me about a procedure I've been struggling with (turns out I had only half the required information, duh, no wonder I was struggling! Damn inconsistent trainers.) Now I am at home sipping my wine (sticking with one glass again, so as to not drunk-post to the couch) and finishing up my latest poem.

Both my lecturers sound like they should be in Lord of the Rings Peregrine and Methuen. These are their first names.
Thanks for this!

Not really whining (well, okay, yeah really whining) but seeking advice. A non-doctor-goer like myself only goes in when pain or fear of my imminent demise forces me to. Colds usually resolve themselves so I don't bother. However, this recurring cold now comes with one huge red quite painful tonsil. Should I try to get some antibiotics? What do you think of the Minute Clinic type deals in the pharmacy? And would it be less expensive than going to my family practice ($125 plus labs) and seeing an MD instead of a NP?

Why is it so hard to press the send button on a text to my T. I have anxiety whethter he exists or not and anxiety over his reaction to my texts, Even though he has said he always reads them. Or anxiety about his reaction in session next week. Blech!

The one time I went to one of those clinics (sinus infection, I was on the road for work) it was something like $40 for the visit and maybe some more for tests. They didn't take my insurance, and that was still the price. They usually have a price list at the front desk.
Thanks for this!

I have used the urgent care or inside pharmacy (walgreen's or cvs) nurse practitioner guys for my strep throat and sinus infections and broken bones (urgent care). I don't remember what the inside pharmacy places charge - $75 or so is what I seem to recall. I find them useful and certainly less of a hassle than an mds office. Urgent care is more expensive probably because there is an actual md. But also because I used them for broken bones so xrays and bandaging adds to the bill more than a simple throat culture and antibiotic prescription.

It seems a bit better after a warm salt water gargle. I'll probably go tomorrow to put my mind at ease. Thanks everyone for your input.

Not to leave everyone hanging---Stopdog had the right answer but I won't say which one (both retailers are awful in their own special way) just in case I sell my soul

Honey and lemon are amazing for a sore throat. You can put a tablespoon of honey and a squeeze of lemon in some warm water and drink it. It really does help. Or, if you love honey, you can just knock back a tablespoon of honey.

Can it be worse than the slow soul death you are already enduring at your present job?

I continue to work for massive soul sucking corporations yet I never learn. But it can't be much worse, you are right. Maybe "more of the same"...

I went to the clinic in the grocery store with my recent sinus thing. They're great. Walk-in, little or no wait time, and I was prescribed antibiotics and steroids which I picked up from the pharmacy right there in the store.

In the last day or two my parrot has learned that sneaking up on people and dumping their drinks in their laps really creates some excitement...

Love parrots!! I almost ended up with a green cheeked conure but I worry that any bird would get me evicted!! They are funny animals. A little neurotic but hilarious.

My grandmothers firend had a cockatoo who could mimic someone knocking on the backdoor, the phone ringing and her best friends voice calling out to come in. He found the resulting activity to be most amusing and would dance about on his stand.

If you can see white patches on or near your tonsil, it would be best to see someone and (hopefully) get antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon!

Today is my dad's birthday. No comment good or bad. I had a weird day and triggered myself, writing about it in my journal. Headed to the trail. I always thought that was what grounded me but I've discovered it's a place I go to go away.

It's usually so beautiful. There are bridges with water and rocks (I love rocks) and so many different plants and trees. I love the smell of the trees and the feel of being there. Anyway... Everything was looking so gray and before spring. I saw these white flowers and checked them out. They smell amazing!!! Think of a mix of gardenia, honeysuckle and there is a earthy sent underneath. Don't know where you are that you are seeing this, but I just wanted to share how beautiful they are and what an amazing thing it was to find them.
