Is it possible for you to get a second opinion, perhaps through medical professionals at the hospital? Switching psychiatrists or going inpatient has led to medication and treatment changes in my case, presumably because prior treatments weren't working. One doctor might not be sympathetic, but that doesn't mean that other doctors will also be unwilling to explore alternative treatments.

Inpatient treatments are also likely to involve quick-acting drugs, as another poster has mentioned, since the goal is to stabilize you and get you on the road to recovery as soon as possible.
