Lucifer is a Roman name meaning "morning star" and the Romans used it to denote the planet Venus. As a god, he was the son of Eros, the "dawn bringer" and in the Book of Isaiah the name is included in a list of titles of the Babylonian king. It's only Dante and Milton that changed it into another name for Satan
I don't think it matters what you call the head devil, he is what he is. "Lucifer" is kind of a romantic name to me, almost a euphemism. I just don't always expect to hear it so sometimes it "startles" me.
