As far as intent, it's probably better to reach out to the educator and have a chat about her teaching plans. Around here, teachers value input and outreach from parents.
As a mom, I've had plenty of lessons that have come home that have led to a variety of in home extended teachable moments. It's up to us parents to add to their path and create children that can freely think for themselves. Can you tell that I was raised in an educator's home? Or that I come from a family of educators?

I never pursued that path myself, was veered away due to, as my aunt said, too many politics.
The school district that my children are in have been working towards more family engagement. Trying to shift the mindset that it's an authoritative instution of sorts.
It's great that you could add depth to his lesson.
