I live in Ottawa too, so I think, I understand what you are saying. There isn't much here if you don't want to work in retail/service, government, high tech and health care. Plus the winters are depressing. Maybe a move is what you need.

Wow, is it really that bleak? I know others who have gotten jobs in their 40s and 50s who were guys. It must depend on the industry.
