metformin can help, sometimes, with weight gain from clozapine, olanzapine, quetiapine, etc. i read an abstract for 2 smaller studies...they seem to indicate that high dose, high potency antioxidants -might- help facilitate weight loss while on neuroleptics, also.

if you're treatment resistant, then clozapine is probably the best thing out there. if not...maybe a different tranquilizer? the only problem there is that clozapine can be rough to taper....not to scare you, but there's a recognized "discontinuation syndrome" associated with stopping clozapine treatment. ugh. if you and the prescriber do decide to try something else, just please advocate for yourself and try to haggle for a -slow- taper and switch.
