I used to subscribe to a print newspaper over 20 years and it was delivered to my doorstep. But the price kept going up, while the quality went DOWN. I just got the Sunday edition, and it began to make me so depressed....the kind of stuff in it. And they gave us "special" editions like those with an NFL section and charging me for it too. I hate football. Then the paper started being late or not arriving at all. I got tired of having to call and deal with the automated prompts....If your paper hasn't arrived, if your paper arrived wet or damaged, etc.
Now I still rely on TV, NPR radio and some online sites like The Guardian. These days I watch/listen to very little news; there's way too much emphasis on all the bad stuff going on. I know we're hard wired this way, but I want to hear good news. You have to go out of your way to find it these days.
I remember when news was mostly in print, and papers were delivered. If you didn't want that, you could get them at these machines around town. I never see those anymore. And no news stands with magazines and newspapers anymore either.
The paper got thinner and thinner, with more ads than anything else. I do miss the comics and coupons from the paper, otherwise good riddance. They kept trying to get me to come back by sending me "special offers" all the time. They finally stopped.
