I don't know about anyone else but I have always been drawn to INTERVENTION .. . or at least drawn to the show since I struggled with alcohol . . . which has been, off and on, for the past eight years.

Anyway, I've been a "religious" watcher of the show INTERVENTION and the subsequent show, Celebrity Rehab. Why? Am I vacarious view? UH, not quite, I'm a participant who doesn't have the celebrity clout or the family awareness to contact the show and attempt to get on.

Reality? I really connected to Mike of Alice In Chains character on the celebrity Rebab show a few years ago. Reason? I'm not really sure. I'm definitely NOT his age group. Jeesh I could almost be his mother or at least his waaaay older sister. I'm 56 for pity sakes! Was I amored of him? Uhmmm, not quite. He was immature, socially inapt and clueless . . . oh wait, that's me at his age and his younger age!!!! I connected with Mike because he felt and talked and lived like I did. . .. No, I wasn't abusing drugs and in an alternative band. I was a law abiding, routine working drone who did what was expected of her. But I RELATED to what Mike said about his life and what he said about himself.

So many times we believe or think that we arent' like someone else because we don't look like or talk like the other person. Reality? We are all so much a like it's scary. . . too "touchy feelie" for you? Stop and think about it. I had to. I used to think I was above people like Mike. I wasn't. I'm just like him and a million other addicted people. I sure hope we find the truth or we'll end up like Mike!

i believe the INTERVENTION show has probably helped many addicted ppl. had i witnessed that show many years ago it may have helped me get help long before i did. i'm an alcoholic in recovery 21 years now. i had to get to a low bottom before i got sober.
