Totally serious. Does it count? I have a food addiction. I've done tons of research and know a lot about nutrition and exercise. I exercise daily and know what I need to eat to be healthy. My problem is that I can't seem to keep control with food. I'll be fine in the morning until I eat breakfast. That's when the cravings start. I'll be full from breakfast and yet I continue to crave. And it can be a craving for anything. I'm usually able to hold the cravings off until lunch (I run 2 miles between breakfast and lunch). After I eat lunch, I completely lose control. Again, I'll be full, but I just keep craving more. Most days it gets to the point where I'll physically feel sick because I've eaten so much. I'm not overweight, but if I don't get control of this food addiction sooner than later, I will be.
It really scares me when I feel so full that I could puke, yet I'm still craving more. I'm afraid of this addiction taking over my life, me becoming overweight, getting diabetes, heart disease.......you get the picture. How do I conquer this addiction? |

Yes, I do believe that food addiction counts. I'm not sure how to conquer the addiction. But, you can try drinking lots of water. That might help. I wish you well.

Try eliminating salt. That will make the food more bland and your cravings will go away. Also, if you crave sweets, try grapes instead of sugar.

Hi,
Food addiction absolutely counts. If you feel that you have an addiction to food than you should go talk to your doctor. He/She can refer you to a specialist who can give you more specific information and layout a treatment plan. They may also recommend that you go to an outpatient or inpatient facility as well. Whatever it takes to make sure that you are well. Its encouraging to recognize that you have a problem now rather than when it takes over and you feel trapped. Good luck with all your endeavors. crazyman28 Last edited by crazyman28; Apr 29, 2011 at 07:47 PM. Reason: typo |
