Ahhh we just wrapped up the convention. What an amazing experience!!! You asked earlier what it is. It's the Arizona State Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous. It was a 3 day conference full of meetings and dances and fellowship and meeting people from all the over the state and other states and even Canada. We had just over 300 people show up and it was absolutely amazing. I think I've gotten about 6 hours of sleep since Thursday. There are conferences like this all over the country. Young people's groups all over are refered to as the YPAA groups. We're going to a conference in San Fransisco in February called ACCYPA I think and from what they say it's HUGE. A friend in my homegroup suggested I go to a committee meeting for the conference since Tucson was the host committee this year, that it would be a great opportunity for service. YPAA groups from around the state bid for the host committee position. Next year's conference will be in Prescott, AZ and they've been bidding for 4 years now, so everyone's excited that they finally got it. The conventions are at hotels and no one sleeps and it's a great time!!! I'm a little bummed out that it's over, but Prescott's ASCYPAA will be Memorial Day weekend so it's not far off, and we're going to San Fransisco in February. I cannot tell you what this has done for my sobriety. I finally felt a part of AA. I got to wear a Host Committee ribbon and everyone kept thanking the committee and I was a part of it!!! Being a part of this committee has helped me to fall in love with AA. I can't say enough about it!! So if you're struggling in sobriety and think you can't have fun anymore, look up your local YPAA chapter and jump into service and have fun! It's done wonders for me!!!!
