I'm pretty active in my AA home group. I'm group secretary, I chair at least once a month, and over the summer, I did meeting set-up since i figured since I'm unemployed I had the time. It's all been good.

last night we had our monthly business meeting. A couple of our members had moved and so had left our group leaving open service positions, namely Inter-group rep and Alternate GSR. I was really surprised when my sponsor nominated me to be alternate GSR, since I don't yet have a year sober. Anyway the group conscious was to let me stand for the position, since the one year requirement was just a suggestion, I've been an active member of the group for 18 months now, and everyone thinks I'm working a good program of recovery now. Anyways, I was appointed.

So I have my first District meeting this Sun., and my first Area meeting at the end of Oct.

I'm really looking forward to getting involved in service outside of my group and learning more about how AA functions.

Plus it's another great reason to stay sober.

Good effort splitimage! I know for myself that being a help to others that have either a MI or addiction helps me stay sober.
