Hi, my name is John. I am a game-a-holic. I just don't know where to go, nobody seems to have a support group for my type of addiction... but trust me. It is just as addicting and hurtful to my life as alcoholism. I have lost friends, alienated family, and missed out on life. No more! Now is the time to quit. But... like all the other times before... Well trying not to be negative, but basically I've tried and failed hundreds of times.

Here is my blog. I am going to update it daily:

Hi John ~ Seems like the first thing to do would be to get into therapy to see why you're using games to "hide" from life & reality. It's probably a way of not dealing with life -- and we can't do that. Just like alcoholics, who "escape" into their bottles, gaming can be the same thing. You need to know what you're escaping from and why.

Talking to a good therapist would help a lot! Why not give it a try? It sure can't hurt. Best of luck & God bless. Hugs, Lee

u're right, john, gambling addiction is as destructive as any other addiction. there are 12 step program meetings called gambler's anonymous, GA. i know others like you if there's no GA in their area go to open AA mtgs to learn how to overcome your addiction. but you can't dwell on your gambling there per se cause AA is for alcoholics. however your listening at those mtgs will definitely help you, imo. here's the site for GA. it lists mtgs. and has helpful info. hope you'll keep posting. we're here for you.

upper right corner click on mtgs near you.

Well, it's not really gambling I am addicted to. It's video games, but same basic addiction I guess.
