I arrived at my brother's yesterday for Christmas. I had mentally prepared myself for him and his wife to drink in front of me, so I wasn't triggered when they had large glasses of wine before dinner.
What got me was dinner. We'd picked up some really juicy rib eye steaks, marianated them in olive oil, pepper, sea salt, and garlic. My brother seared both sides on the grill then put them in the oven to cook. They smelled great. As he's getting ready to carve the meat, he casually mentions to me, oh I poured about a 1/4 cup of red wine into the pan to keep the meat moist, I hope that's ok. Well it's not ok - I'm on Antabuse. He knows this. He's seen me get very sick from accidentally eating food that had wine in it. He just forgot. Oops. I wound up having a peanut butter sandwich instead. splitimage |

(((SplitImage))) I am sorry to hear that your brother forgot and did that. Sometimes even people closedo forget about others struggles.
especially if they themselves dont register the struggle in their mind. at least he had mentioned it right? best wishes your way and i hope from this dinner with you he remembers next time. |
