Is it just me, or does anyone else find the picture on the pc mainpage a bit triggering? I am talking about the first picture you see of the young, happy partying girls as they drink. As one who is closely monitored with a possible alcohol problem along with the need to avoid other addictions, I see the picture first before I look at the words describing the information covered with the link. I am not sure how to send a message to the people who create the pages for pc, but I don't know if happy partiers is a good message on psychcentral-of course it could be that I am the only one bothered by this!

I had the same, brief reaction. However, millions of people, some with mental issues, are perfectly capable of having a little champagne during the holidays and not losing control of themselves. At a certain point, you just have to deal with a dominant culture (and attendant images) that celebrates with a little (or a lot of) drinking.

I don't linger, I just click on "community" and continue-and I really haven't thought about the image since that initial time.

I don't come in that way.

Yes, when I looked I had the same reaction. But as gulas points out, we are the minority. On the other hand ... maybe among the people coming here, we aren't. Let's see what others think.

Looks like they've removed the offending picture from the Homepage. Maybe someone heard us complaining.

I don't come in that way either - I avoid the "commercials" if you will.

Billboards, shirts, tv commercials, magazine ads, etc. typically don't bother me. Often, I read posts involving alcohol or drug abuse, typically to see if I can do some service work.

I have a fair amount of time under my belt and usually am not phased or triggered by that kind of stuff...BUT...every once in a while I catch a curve ball. Something out of no where slaps me upside the head!!! I do what I've been taught, have practiced and what's been done here...talk about it. Oh, and I go to a meeting.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it appears that the picture is gone.

I also agree that we may be the minority; however, I self-medicate when I am on what my t refers to my hypomanic states (I'm still trying to make it the medication, not my brain!) so maybe there are more than we think who might be triggered a certain way when cycling. Oddly enough, when I am depressed I am less likely to be bothered by pictures of happy drinkers because I don't associate with them.
