Need help on drug addiction speech

Hello,

The other day I made a list of all the topics I would be intrested in for my informative speech in my fundamentals of speech class. Then after that I decided I wanted to do something I knew some about, that way I wasn't shooting blind. Finally I decided I was not only intrested in drug addiction in America, but I've experienced it as well.

I asked my teacher if she considered this topic appropriate and she said it was great.

I'm here asking if there's any information anybody could give me to help me out. What I'm mainly seeking is drug history and info, statistics, treatment, prevention, and a failure story and a succsesful story. I also have a visual aid with like before and after photos of addicts and addicts brains. I have a few kids in acoma too, but I haven't fully decided if their apropriate yet. If anybody has any suggestions.......I mean anything I would really appreciate some info.

Also......this is embarressing.....it's been awhile since I was in treatment, and I can't find my N/A book anywhere......can anybody tell me the full serenity prayer. I know that's bad.......my memories like dirt.....lol.

I hope you will also say something about the difference between addiction and dependance.... just so those who are making judgments know there is a difference When is your speech due?

Oooh good idea Sky. I know that for me, it's addiction AND dependence....be interesting to see what research is out there on that.

Absolutley, that's a definite difference I should mention......it's not due for another two weeks.....two, it's the Tues after the upcoming Tues. I hope that makes sense.

What drug did you have in mind?

See drug addiction is such a broad topic, and at first I was a little lost on where to begin, but I decided instead of trying to discuss a little bit of every drug, (which is a hell of alot of drugs), I decided I'd do the most used, trendful, drugs. Cocaine, Marijuana, Heroin, and Methamphetamine. I'm just going to list a few facts like what it is, what type of euphoria one gets from it, then the stats. That's mainly it when discussing a specific drug. I'll be discussing alot of treatment, prevention, stats, and then two stories....a failure resulting in death, and a success. I've already started my outline, and research.......these links will be huge help. Thank you soooo much everybody for guiding me in the right direction......it's very very sweet.
