After we went over the LIST, my Sponsor said I forgot one person.....I understood what he meant...It was me he was talking about ...I had hurt a lot of people in my addiction...But I hurt myself the most..So, on top of the list he said I need to make amends to myself..Ive come along way. It doesn't stop now. There is more action to be taken. We Are Never Finished...Basic Text Page 38 "We do this Step as if there were no 9th Step"...Says the Basic Text..This program has allowed me to stay clean one day at a time...But that is only a beginning. I believe that working these Steps are a gift to myself. For a long time I was just staying clean and talking about "HOW I FEEL" Lol...Thats important but...The Basic Text Says in...HOW It WORKS page 17..These are the Principles that made "OUR RECOVERY" Possible...Steps 1-12...This isnt a 3 Step Program...We deserve the best..."We are WILLING to do anything possible to REPAIR the DAMAGE we've done"....."By CHANGING OUR BEHAVIOR" Step 8 of It Works How & Why Page 81..and further down it says...."We can start to make amends by not repeating the same behavior". I was now at Step 9... ![]() ![]()

I just wanted to share this about the 8th step list I had written. I've seen the many people I hurt and as a result somehow all my resentments melted away. How can I not give mercy and forgive to some extent. Their are those events that simply cannot be forgiven or forgotten. In my case they melted away because I was now on the other side seeking mercy and forgiveness. Some days they do creep back in with a few individuals, but I have steps 10-12 to maintain these resentments. It really amazes me. I called up my sponsor and said hey these resentments in my 4th step are not eating me alive any more. We both agreed that the program. How can I continue to hold bitterness in my heart when I've done the same things and maybe even worst. I needed to humble myself before my Higher Power...

Yeah my list was long ...Really long..I was terrified of Steps 8 and 9...Step 4 and 5 was just me, God, and another person. I grew up catholic so confession was no problem. My sponsor said Peter this is step 8 and its just a list. Its not making amends yet. Boy was I happy to hear that..lol....In any case I did a complete and thorough list. Oh and by the way I would also like to share that their are other ways to recovery. The 12 Steps arent the only way. I just love the steps though so Im just sharing what has helped me....NEW YORK GIANTS BABY....lol....Peace....
