....and it was THE WORST gig of my ENTIRE LIFE.

Couldn't relax on stage, couldn't get "in the zone" and just played lifeless, boring stuff without any CHARACTER or EMOTION.

So sorry to hear that Brontoset. I know the first six months of sobriety I felt like the laughing funny person I was had disappeared and I couldn't find her. Took awhile but eventually she came back - just took me a bit not to feel inhibited and to let my inner child feel free to have fun again. I stopped trying to be such a grown up and let my hair down a little. I'm not saying this is what's happening with you. I just know that with me it took me time to feel comfortable in my new skin, to feel my feelings without alcohol, heck to do anything without alcohol. I think you just need to give yourself more time - your talent will come back.

i'm so glad you broke the ice and did the gig. hey we've numbed our emotions in our active addiction. it will take time. there's a saying-it took time for us to get sick and it takes time to get well. just be cautious and not take the "easy" way out. it won't give you what you want.

dude everybody knows jokes and music and everything sound so much funnier and better when you're high, but they're really not, if you hear a recording later of like what you said at a party that you thought was so effing awesome and deep at the time. sorry just too many burned out old hippies on this website who have been there done that buried too many friends too young. we're here for ya.

As a fellow (sober) performer, are you sure you weren't overthinking your sober performance instead of enjoying it, and wowing your crowd?? Also, what exactly was bad? How you felt on stage, or your actual performance? Give it time, you'll get your spark back! and atleast it won't be the type of spark that leads to a coffin...
.
GOOD FOR YOU FOR MAKING IT THRU YOUR GIG SOBER!
