I'm really sad. I got my class schedule today for the fall semester, and I'm in class from 4-10 pm Tues., Wed., Thurs. This is a problem because my current homegroup meets Tues and Thurs evenings. I really don't want to leave my homegroup - I've been a member there for 3 years and I like all the people, and really like the meeting formats which are unique in Toronto. But I'd never be able to go to the meetings. I'm pretty sure what meeting I'm going to wind up joining - It's a meeting I've gone to in the past, I know a bunch of the people there, and it's just down the street from St. Clare's. They have a closed meeting based around "As Bill Sees it" from 7 to 8, and then an open speaker meeting from 8:30 - 9:30. Guess I'll go pay them a visit this Sat.

Aww, that's too bad. I know you hate to leave your home group. I left mine too when I moved from one city to another. I hated to do that, but it just made sense. As it ended up my new home group was fantastic, and they actually are the ones who made SURE I got and STAYED sober! So i got lucky on that one!

Maybe your new group will turn out great too. I sure hope so. Let us know how it goes, will you? I'd like to hear about your new group, and if they do things together outside of the meetings, etc. Some groups do.

Take care & God bless. Hugs, Lee

just a thought splitimage, since the semester schedule is a temp thing you do have the option to let them know what's up for now and u'll be back. so it's another way to deal with this and keep your home group.

Thanks Lee and Madisgram,

Madisgram, It's likely that the second semester schedule will be the same as the first, so it would be 8 months, and that's a long time to be without a home group. Plus being honest, where i'm living now, getting to my old homegroup would have involved 2 buses and 2 subways - not sure how motivated I'd be to do that in the winter. Once I'm back on my feet, and ready to rent an apartment again, I'm going to try to move back to the part of town I was in, in which case I can rejoin my old homegroup. But for now it looks like I need a new one.

We'll see I'm going to check out the Lansing meeting tonight and then the Leslie and Lawrence Park groups tomorrow. I already know a lot of people at both Lansing and Lawrence Park.
