Days of Healing, Days of Joy................................................Nov. 27th

"Henceforth I ask not good fortune, I myself am good fortune"..Walt Whitman

In having to grow up early and fast, many of us adult children actually functioned as "parents" to our parents. We saw our survival as dependent on taking care of everyone around us. In our desperate attempt to be "little adults" we missed out on being little children. But who said that couldn't be turned around?

Now that we are grown, we may have to struggle to learn to play. While it may be too late to play with dolls or put on a circus in the backyard, it is never too late to fly a kite on a pretty day, gather seashells, take a long bubble bath, or lie down on a blanket in the park and look for picture in the clouds, And it is not too late to consciously invite the hurt child within us to come along for the adventures we plan. Tell your child that he or she is permanently off duty, that you will be the parent now, and that no one ever dreamed of the kid of good times that the two of you are going to have!
