Do you know WHY you drink? You say you have depression. Have you tried getting TREATMENT for your depression?

Drinking certainly won't "cure" the depression. Perhaps it makes you feel better at the time, but once you sober up, you feel even worse. So it doesn't really make sense to drink, does it, since alcohol is a depressant.

Treatment for depression seems to make more sense, doesn't it? A good therapist can help you with that. You can find the REASON for the depression. And once you find the reason, you are able to deal/cope with it. The therapist can help you with that. So why not give THAT a try?

If you can't afford a therapist, you can certainly afford a trip to the doctor. He can put you on an antidepressant which will "fix" the chemicals & hormones in your brain that have gone haywire and that have caused the depression. People say they don't "like" medications yet the fill their bodies with alcohol until their sick. THAT doesn't make any sense! So see your doctor and get the proper medication!!!

I wish you the very best. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee

I became addicted to alcohol and I know that it definitely seemed like it was doing something about my depression - something better, that is. It just made it worse. I wish I had known something - anything - back then about mental illness, and that I'd lived in a big enough town or city where getting help was an option. I suggest getting whatever help you can. Depression is serious, even though a lot of (non-understanding) people try to make it out as nothing more than a case of laziness and poor self-control.
