I just found out my husband has been getting his medication at 3 pharmacies. His dr called me to let him know he is cutting him off. each prescription had refills of 180 each. I know there is going to be hell around here for a bit with withdrawals. anyone on here go thru this? I am going to need alot of help with this. Right now I just feel like the marriage is over. Been thru this with other stuff too.

(((bebop))) - so sorry this is happening. Good the doctor is responsible in cutting him off. Is this the only doctor he's getting the prescriptions from? Would your husband be willing to get into a treatment facility? I know from past threads you haven't been happy in a while - sounds like this is the last straw. You must feel devastated and feel free to vent here.

so far this is the only dr he has seen. I am beyond devastated I think. numb? heck I don't know what I am feeling at the moment. each prescription was for 180 pills. He got them 4 times last month. Had a little bit of a talk and he refuses to believe he is addicted or the pills are addictive. my word they are opiates! I just want to run away and hide.

He will realize how addictive they are when he has to do with out them. What I would like to know is how did the dr let him get that many prescriptions. Don't they keep track of that, if not, they should. My husband was on them for a long time too, but he had to see a new doctor and he refused to refill them. He was only taking them as prescribed and had only a few days of withdrawl(minor) but is in constant pain. That's not fair either. The doctor told him to take tylenol as if that would help. Good luck as he comes off of them. He will probably be grouchy to say the least.

I think he was just calling the office and getting someone different every time for refills. dr found out this morning and cut him off. they called all the pharmacy's and canceled all refills. I am just praying I can get him thru the withdrawals on my own and keep my mind.

I don't understand how this can happen? I have to get a prescription from my doctors surgery which is a piece of paper that a take to a pharmacy and swap for the medication. Even with my repeat prescriptions I have to put a request in and then go and get the piece of paper and they won't give it me unless its the right time for me to have the meds. Even if you do the scheme where you pick up repeats from pharmacy the surgery sends it them so won't send to more than one place just like they won't give you more than one prescription in person.

we have been seeing this dr for years. all the girls in the office know us so they just take us at our word I guess. they have always called in refills. when refills run out then he gets a paper script.

What's a refill? It must work very differently there to here, every time you want medication here you have to have a paper prescription, you can't get medication without one

here we get a prescription with refills meaning you can get more without the paper. it may have 3 or 4 refills before you need new paper ones.

Aaah right. That sounds very open to abuse as a system. How do they know how many 'refills' someone has had?

wishing you the very best, Bebop, with this issue and others. I do know a few people who have struggled with tramadol and it was tough but they came out ok. wish the same for your hub, and of course, mainly, peace and strength to you in your trials and tribulations!! The best!
