Just wondering what has worked best for different people with oxycodone withdrawal. Im more interested in the mental anguish ? I have pain even when i do take it. I just cant handle the depression and feeling of hopelesness. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks

I would find some expert help and support so others can help with handling the depression and feelings of hopelessness. Write up what you would consider a "perfect" support team and then go interview for members; pretend you are starting your own oxycodone withdrawal "company" I hope you consider this site and its members as part of your team.

I don't think this is something one should do on their own, even if they have support from family or friends.

Opiate withdrawal can be very difficult physically and mentally. I think it's best for one to speak to their prescribing doctor about wanting to stop taking the opiate and ask for help with the withdrawal symptoms. There are meds that can be prescribed (short term meds) that can help with the symptoms.

I wish you well!

What options do you have? Can you get Suboxone from a doc? I understand so much about the pain, it's awful. And opiates mess with emotions and can get you more depressed, but the panic of withdrawal takes over. Have you tried, or are you open to A.A or N.A? Do you also suffer from depression or is that only when you go through withdrawal? Sorry so many questions. If you are ready it is not hopeless!

Personally my feeling about withdrawing from opiates by taking Suboxone is switching one addiction for another. I took some suboxone before I was clean and it is very, very potent. The guy I got it from was trying to deal with an opiate addiction and he ended up forging scripts for more suboxone. I feel the s. I feel the same way about methadone. My husband had a friend who paid the clinic nurse under the table to up his methadone dosage until he had a heart attack. To me it just is a lot of trouble to have to go through recovering from double addictions.

I do agree that a Dr's opinion is crucial adn wish you the best of luck.

I know it is a hard one! I tried the first time to tapper of Morphine XR 15mg and at the end of tapper with assistance of acupuncture as well,it was BAD pain for me, and moods were out of control. So then I got back on and then I went on a vacation to the islands a few weeks ago with family members that are in medical field(I know this is not suggested and my PD got VERY ANGRY)but I cold turkey stopped because the medicine was horrible on my breathing, thyroid, digestive etc.

The medication helped with chronic pain and made the acute pain worse. I was sick for about 3 days but was still able to enjoy the beach etc. I had the perfect detox scenario of a great ecosystem to consume. I am still having some lingering withdrawal issues like headaches, eye aches, and depression. I am doing acupuncture for the chronic pain and withdrawal. Everyday I feel it getting better.
Thanks for this!
