Clonazapam

I'm prescribed to clonazepam but I abuse them. I don't remember how many I take, I just keep poppin them the whole day, I know I have a problem and need to stop but when I run out, it doesn't seem like it affects me. I Don't know what to do because although I abuse them, I don't depend on them...honestly I just think i take them out of boredom. On the bright side! I love my new job as an administrative assistant at an orthodontics office!! Just got my scrubs today

This is a medication that could bite you in the bum. Just because you can stop taking it for a day or two means nothing as this med has a very long afterlife, which mean it stays your system for weeks. So stop playing around with them.

Congratulations on your new job. Maybe this will keep the boredom away. Take up a hobby/activity to help your own self esteem.

How many mg per day is the prescription for?

Obviously you run out and have to go the rest of the month without but how many days does it take to go through the script? How many days do you go without before you get a new script?

I was a clonazepam addict for 10 years. It started off with just .5mg twice a day. By the time I stopped the clona, I was taking well over 10mg a day. I'd sometimes go thru my prescription in a week. I found the problem with clonazepam, is that after you've taken far too much, you don't think you're stoned on them and you think they're having no effect. You feel normal. I would take so many I'd do what you do - and forget I'd taken any, and take more. I didn't notice how bad it was - but other people would think I was drunk cuz I slurred so badly from the clonazepam.

This is a frightening drug. When I stopped, the withdrawal was slow because of its long half-life. But I got really angry. Really frustrated by the simplest things. Very sharp with people (and even rude). Complete inability to eat. Unable to sleep. With my doctor's and a specialist's support, marijuana helped me calm down while detoxing from the clona.

I used to portion my pills each day. I'd put x-number of clonas on the fridge, and when they were gone I knew I hadn't forgotten to take some.

I'm 20 months after withdrawal and I'm still sick. This isn't a drug you can play around with. If you withdraw you want to do a very very slow taper on your own terms, not be forced off rapidly like what happened to me. Don't tempt fate by abusing the pills. Good luck.

Benzo withdrawal is hell. Don't mess around with it.

I was once told by a psychiatrist that benzo withdraw is not severe. I took it for seven years and my addiction was out of control. I would stop taking them for a week just so I could take the fourteen I didn't take over the week to get ****ed up.

I wouldn't plan to get off benzo's unless you are going through a relatively low stress period of your life.

Also do not load up on these while binge drinking. I landed myself in the emergency room once.

I OD'd on a combination of Clonazepam and risperidone. Got so out of it, I lost track of how many I took - was just swallowing handfuls. I've never been so sick in my life. Landed in the ER.

Be careful. Not a med to mess around with.

I've been taking that med for 17 years, if you can believe it. I have never abused it, though i have been prescribed WAY too much. You are talking about a med that is highly addictive and very difficult to stop taking. the risk of seizure is very high - I state that from personal experience. Be very, very careful taking them because you are "bored" which I'm sorry but i don't believe for one second. If you're bored, try playing solitaire. You will build up a tolerance, and next thing you know, it's take 6mg to give you the same calming effect. Seriously, be careful. I'd rather be addicted to heroin.

what are the side effects on clonazepam?? I have been on it for a few months, but I don't take it every day, only as needed...so why do I feel so depressed, and lazy on it all of the sudden?

Well, sedatives are nervous system depressants. All systems, cognitive and physical will be impacted by them, especially if your tolerance is low. Are you combining it with anything else?

hi, I also take concerta and cymbalata....I dont take clonazapam on a daily basis...but i have been on it for quite some time so I dont get why it would start doing this right now?

Probably a question best answered by a pharmacist or clinical pharmacologist.

The more I work with clients taking Clonazepam, the less I like it. Most of my clients have cooccuring issues. There are other options. Take care and good luck figuring this out. Please don't do anything major without consulting with professionals first!

Believe me when I tell you that Benzo withdrawal is worse then hell. I'm taking Klonopin now, but had to withdraw from it years ago. I thought I was dying. The panic and racing heart was horrible. I withdrew from Valium years ago (Before the docs would admit it was addictive) I did it by myself because my doctor didn't believe I needed to stop taking it. I was averaging 100mg a day of Valium and fully functioning. Luckily, I got through that without a seizure. Please be careful. It does have a long half life so you may feel fine days after you stop. Then it will hit you. You could have seizures. It's really dangerous.

Kick this shyt ASAP. Like others have said, it's HORRIBLE to come off. Like really awful. It has taken a damn good stab at ruining my life. :/

Angelique67 don't give up, it will pass!!! I am going through the steps of getting off of clanazapam and i know what you're feeling. the doc cut my dosage in half, the side affects are just beginning to show, but its been one week so far and it is getting better. can the doc replace it with a less strong med? i hope and pray you are ok!!! please keep your chin up if you can, i know you probably don't need someone telling you that because you feel soo bad, but i think you should stick it out because you've come this far already. Maybe you do need it and can get back on it? I would if it helps otherwise. Good luck!!

Angelique ask p doc to add another short acting benzo to help you withdraw safely. Usually they do withdrawals as an inpatient cause it's SOooo miserable. Please take care
