Seriously wondering if I'm addicted to porn. I look at it/watch it a few times a week at most, and as little as once every couple of weeks. Does that count as being addicted to it? It doesn't disrupt my life in anyway, but I just need a way to let out my sexual energy, or I'll climax in my sleep. Once, I swear I was even masturbating in my sleep, and my mother was right outside of the room doing laundry (laundry room is across the hall from my bedroom) and the door to my room was wide open.
The reason I swear I was masturbating in my sleep is because I was doing just that in my dream and it was very real, like I was actually doing it in the real world. I could even hear the sounds of my bed rattling through the haze of the dream as I rocked back and forth. In my dream that sound translated to the whole damn room I was in shaking and rattling. Anyways, when I woke up, and saw that my mom had placed some clean folded laundry in my bedroom, I felt very awkward about the whole thing. So, I just watch porn and masturbate to that to release my sexual energy to prevent such a situation from arising again.

It doesn't sound like addiction to me. I suffered with porn addiction and know how it can interfere with relationships and daily life, not to mention self-esteem. If you are not having any negative consequences in your life from watching porn and masturbating I don't think you have to worry, but don't let it take the place of real intimate relationships.

I don't know if this fits the criteria of addiction, personally.
You're doing it for alterior motives, to prevent being sprung on again when you're fast asleep. Look, the thing is, as a mother myself, firstly, I do not just enter my sons room. Secondly, if I thought that my son was doing "something" I wouldn't walk in. Lastly, if I actually saw my son doing something, alseep or awake, I sure as hell wouldn't be leaving the laundry folded up on his bed! I say it's only addiction when you are no longer able to do your day to day activities that you would normally do, if the activity wasn't occuring. Doesn't really sound the case for you, based on what you've said. Don't worry so much. |
