A few months ago I was prescribed Klonopin (clonazepam) and I liked it a little too much. So I’ve been taking it pretty regularly since then, but I’ve had to increase the dosage because I’m already building up a tolerance. Whenever one unpleasant thing happens in my life, my first thought is just to take some Klonopin so I won’t care. I don’t know what I would do without it, and that scares me. But the even scarier part is I’m pretty sure it’s messing up my memory even when I’m not on it.
For example, the other day I went out to eat and spent the whole day with my family (which is a rare thing for us) but then later that day when someone asked me “So what did you do today?” I had no idea. It took me a few minutes to remember something like that. And there’s also little things, like I’ll mix up the days (like, I’ll think what happened Saturday happened on Monday, stuff like that) and I’ll just be generally confused about what’s happening. If anyone has been dependent on/addicted to Klonopin or any other benzodiazepines, please let me know if you experienced this too. Thank you. |

Hi snowflake. Any med can snow you if you use too much so you don't know what is going on, especially scary if you are driving under the influence of klonopin.
Here are other peoples thoughts and experiences with klonopin and its side affects. Psych Central - Search results for Side affects of klonopin

I was dependent on Klonopin but I don't think I had those side effects. But the very high doses of Klonopin I was on in the last decade combined with alcohol abuse back then may have been partly responsible for the start of a pretty severe psychosis I succumbed to.

Memory issues happen, but this med has causes addiction problems in many many people. I dare say it can cause some rebound issues as well. Be careful coming off this drug, there can be many issues.

Coming off klonopin causes withdrawals. You have to titrate slowly...really slowly. Just a warning. I take 3 mg a day as a maintenance drug for anxiety, and I have a little trouble keeping track of weekdays, but I do the exact same thing every day, and as I'm in a deep depression, probably in the same clothes. Some word recollection and shaky hands is all I've experienced.
