Spice, etc....My son destroyed his life.....

I watched my son destroy his life using this stuff. He lost his wife, his four children, multiple jobs and all friends and relationships. He almost lost his life in a car accident, thank God he did not kill anyone. He is now in jail for a year for getting pulled over while smoking this crap. He went from a bright, responsible, articulate, funny and loving human being to a pathetic, falling out of the chair, lie to your face while looking you in the eye stoner. Nothing worked to get him to stop: loving support, begging, pleading, threats, losing his family, firing from jobs, drug treatment, religious counselling, earlier arrests . . . He would promise not to do it again and only live up to that promise until his next bag came in the mail. I threw it away when I saw it, so he got a PO box so that I wouldn't know. It was devastating to the whole family.

I pray to whatever higher power there is that this enforced withdrawal will change him back into the wonderful person I gave birth to.

Please, please do not use this stuff. Life is too short and family is too important.

Welcome HeartsickMother. My heart breaks for you. Take care of yourself. You are powerless over your son's addiction just as he is. Remember you didn't cause this and you can't cure it. Suggest you look into Alanon Family groups for support.

I'm really sorry for you and your son. May I ask .... what is Spice? I'm not familiar with the name of that drug.

Its meant to mimic the effects of cannabis but from what I understand it doesn't really do that...causes a different sort of high, can be made from various chemicals. Basically its random plant matter you can smoke with chemicals sprayed on it. Its a lot more dangerous than cannabis but it gets marketed as a 'legal' alternative since its not a scheduled drug so people sometimes resort to it. It also has much more addiction potential than marijuana.

Some call it 'synthetic marijuana' but that is false since Spice does not contain any cannabanoids synthetic or otherwise. Most of all though its just nasty stuff best to stay away from.

It's sort of a synthetic marijuana, they keep changing it to stay ahead of the drug laws. It can cause some serious side effects, sort of in the same category as "bath salts"

It doesn't contain any cannabis, but it is meant to have the same effect, though it is in actuality much worse with really evil side effects.

A friend of mine did bath salts by "accident", he thought it was speed, he absolutely lost his mind on it. Stole a car, led a high speed police chase, wrecked and injured 6 cops all in less than an hour. He is doing 15 years in prison. Wow. All because of a "legal" substance someone cooked up to hide from the DEA. They make these things legal by changing the molecular structure a little bit to stay ahead of the laws. Crazy huh?!
