How do u know if you have a drinking problem or just an addiction to anything to calm your thoughts? Is there a test or quiz for this?

The easiest self test is CAGE:

Have you ever felt you needed to Cut down on your drinking?
Have people Annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?
Have you ever felt Guilty about drinking?
Have you ever felt you needed a drink first thing in the morning (Eye-opener) to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?

Answer honestly and you're on your way to the truth.

Another big guideline that is used in the medical field is that guys shouldn't drink more than 4 drinks (a beer, a shot, a glass of wine count as drinks) in a day or 14 total in a week. For women, it's 2 in a night or 7 in a week. Hope this helps as well.

If you are wondering, you most likely do. I'd search Google - How do I tell if I am an alcoholic.
