Oh...I want to also add that spending is my second "drug". It's more an addiction than a drug, but detrimental all the same.

Alcohol. Then me and dh started hanging with his coworker and his wife. She got a spript every month for 300 10mg hydrocodone. She "said" she didn't use it much (300 a month) so she started giving a lot of them to me. I'd take 3 at a time. That was fun for a while then we stopped seeing them. (Currently she's on methadone, separated, jobless, and seldom conscious) Then dh started getting them for his back (120 5mg ) a month. I was swiping them so he started hiding the bottle. He also takes gabapentin. Gets 90 300mg a month but only takes one a day. I google all the drugs we're prescribed because I just want to know how they work and what side effects to be aware of. When I googled gabapentin, "gabapentin high" was always a second option link. So one day I clicked and found a site where people do various substances and post their experience. Figured out I could take 10. And so I did. The result was a loving, happy feeling that lasted all day. Who wouldn't like that?! Then he saw that there were no extra pills. Being prescribed 90 and only taking 30, for months, there should have been lots and lots left over. Nope. He figured me out, chewed me out and that week I sought a substance abuse counselor and an AA meeting. This was maybe going on 3 months ago.

Still not clean What is/was your drug of choice?

Ouch, Liberada! I hope you're not mixing the alcohol & opiates. I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but many folks nod off permanently doing that. I think it's great that you've sought out a substance abuse counselor & are attending meetings. Turn that frown upside down, because you've made some productive moves & you know you have a problem! I'd worry much more if you were in denial about the danger you're in. Keep us posted on how things are going.

I am just back from another relapse, have a week now. I was drinking and taking Zanax and Valium. I also loooooove opiates, oxys, hydrocodone, and muscle relaxers but my favorite thing is chewing fentanyl patches. During this relapse I only drank and did benzos, I got back into AA after only 6 weeks of destruction. Wound up in the hospital detox. It was hard to quit. I'm holding on every day not to give in. Im eating chocolate when the cravings hit and this helps.

All power to you friend. But this is the addiction forum, where the addicts hang.
Trust us we know more than you will ever know about the detrimental effects of drugs and addiction.

Stay clean, and be grateful you can.

I started using Ritalin over four years ago to help with depression but I can't control my use any longer and I need to stop.

Alcohol & speed. Used to be pot & mdma (wasn't addicted to mdma though). I don't really use speed or meth anymore but it's only because I've stayed away from people I know who do it.

Hydrocodone my very favorite, but I'm addict so also liked oxycontin, percs, all opiate pain medication, I am lucky to be here I overdosed 4 times in my hay day. Weird thing I am not addicted to alcohol, always hated hangovers, I want too set up a non profit organization for addicts who are suffering mental health issues , because I would not keep going too pdoc when first diagnosed ADHD, depression, anxiety, dyslexia, this is what most folks do self medicating because of wrong diagnosis or no diagnosis. I want too show you can break that cycle with the right help .

Good ol' heroin in the vein. Wasn't much of a poly-user, occasionally liked to mix with coke.
4 months sober now, thank God. Every day was a living hell.

drug treatment centers for people with no insurance/low income do exist. As cheesy as it sounds, life is worth living. Even the thought of wanting to fix things or change is a step in the right direction. Don't give up!

Trust me there is help out there. You just have to find it.
I was am IV heroin user, untill one day I did 12 grams in 3 days and realised I have a problem. Your will has to be stronger than your addiction. Worest part is the first 5 days. If you can survive that you can go all the way.
I've known quiet a few people who put themself in Thier local MHU as involtary for 5-10 days so they can't use and if your depressed you could benefit from being in Thier. If you lack insurance(((assuming your in the US)) they can't refuse.you.

4-fluoromethylphenidate is prefered to methamphetamine because it’s more euphoric, more stimulating, has a longer duration, more potent, more focus and motivation and has no neurotoxicity yet it’s more caustic, puts more strain on the heart, more appetite suppressing and has a harder crash with less wakefulness than methamphetamine.

4-fluoromethylphenidate seems to have no activation on VMAT2 proteins (I believe it does) while methamphetamine does but there's something about 4-fluoromethylphenidate crashes that provide some sort of spiritual enhancement that isn't experienced with methamphetamine because it's so intense that it alters the mind so much that it's a positive experience.

20mg is a normal dose but 400mg was consumed every day until it got to the point where it wasn't doing anything. Instead of lasting 8 hours, it lasted 2-4 hours so it was naturally cut down to 100mg a day.

There was one experience where medical attention was needed due to severe chest pain which went away after discontinuing its use but didn't happen again after it was continued again.

Compulsive redosing is emphasised greatly. It's the most fiendish stimulant out of the 18 different stimulants that I've abused.

I'm so addicted to it and I don't know what to do anymore because my stimulant medication isn't high enough so I crave the motivation, stimulation.

Food - I've always been using food for emotional comfort, since I was a small child.
Also people I get attached to, daydreaming, internet, lately self injury . Used to be cigarettes, alcohol.
I can get easily addicted to anything.

My absolute favorite is mdma. I wish I could do it more often..& the sex is out of this world! Last time I combined it with K & got close to the K hole? Very interesting....I'd like to explore that again.
I take modafinil regularly. I need it.
And smokes... about a pack a day & no desire to quit.
And caffeine too.

I've used all major categories of drugs. My most destructive drug was alcohol, my biggest addiction: tobacco/ nicotine, my preference amphetamines / methamphetamine. However for some reason I can not tolerate cocaine and stimulants with similar properties- even in small doses.

I don't consider myself to have any significant addiction problems at this point my life, but I am interested in the issue in general.
