I have been having such a good week with my AA program. I have been sober for over 3 years but learn very slow and have been having trouble getting to meetings. I had changed my hours at work to go in earlier so that I could take my niece to the gym in the afternoon - and to avoid rush hour traffics since I have road rage. Then I would need to go to bed earlier so I couldn't go to night meetings. I was down to one meeting a week.

Well, I can't go to the gym now for physical reasons. So, this past week I have been on vacation and I've been going to the Early Bird meeting every day from 8:00 - 9:00. I love it! Great people, lots of people, sobriety from 1 day to 38 years - it is fabulous. So I decided since I can't go to the gym anymore, I will ask my boss on tuesday if I can change my hours again and come in later so that I can make this meeting. Plus, going in later means I can go to bed a little later which is what my body has wanted to do the whole weekend.

I have been forcing my body to get use to sleeping from 9 pm - 5 am and it doesn't like it - I have tried for months. It does however, like to get up at 7 am. My doctor wanted me to sleep 9 hours for my fibromyalgia and that has also been impossible. But, if I go to bed at 10:30 and get up at 7:00 then I will get 8 1/2 hours which is great (I fall asleep the minute I hit the pillow).

On top of all that - I could also go to a night meeting if I wanted to. It's just a win-win situation all the way around. Oh yeah, and going in a little later and leaving later will also get me out of that rush hour traffic and save my sanity.

Today I went to the Early Bird meeting and 2 minutes before it started I guy I know asked me to chair. Boy - talk about no time to prepare! But that's good - being spontaneous keeps me honest I love my program (AA mentioned - alot!) I hadn't chaired since my anniversary in March, so it was really nice to do it.

After the meeting two women came and asked for my number and many people said they enjoyed the meeting and they enjoyed listening to me. It was nice, cause sometimes you think that people get bored listening to you.

What a great way to start the day - I am so very grateful today I love my program (AA mentioned - alot!)

Yay!!!! Me too!!!! This morning I'm going to a meeting at a treatment facility. They have a speaker meeting Sunday mornings that I've spoken at and today I get to hear my friend tell her story. Its going to be neat because she went to that treatment center and now she gets to go back with over a year sober and show them it works.

My sponsee left me a message on myspace this morning letting me know her phone calls are going well and she's workin on her 4th step. She's also joining a young people's committee tonight - TACYPAA - Tucson Area Commitee of Young People in AA. I was one of the founding members of this committee and I'm excited for her to join. In the message she sent, she called it tacky paw hahahaha! That's how its pronounced. Cracked me up!

I love the days filled with gratitude. An oldtimer at my homegroup says an alcoholic who is always in gratitude will never drink. I tend to agree. I try and stay grateful but there are some days when the gratitude is spilling out of my pores haha!

Good to hear your schedule will allow you more meetings, thats awesome!!

Thanks - that's great about your friend going back to the treatment center with over a year under her belt - that really shows it can be done.

The two girls I have are from an impatient facility as well and when they graduate they are encouraged to come back and help the girls that are still there - I think that's great.

Tranquillity,

Glad you've worked out a way to get more meetings in, along with sleep and avoiding road rage - sounds like a major win-win to me.

Thanks for the gratitude reminder - that's something I need to remember more myself.
