I know I've posted a lot here about my own struggles and I'm happy to say that I'm two months sober now. Not ganna lie, it's kinda boring lolWeed addiction? About my bf. I also posted more about this in the relationship section incase anyone wants more details.

Now to the point. My bf and I do smoke weed (it's legal here so I'm not worried about my recent sobriety from a much worst drug. So a few hits of pot doesn't bug me). But my bf smokes all day everyday. I'm talking whole blunts at a time. Well today he ran out and was so depressed about it, he took two of my prescribed klonopin and slept for over 15 hours (wish they did that to me lol). I did wake him up to take me to the store and he was just out of it and mad at the world. I've never heard of anyone being this way over weed.

So for you previous or current smokers, is this normal behavior? He went and barrowed a tiny bit of weed from a friend while lying and saying he went to get food. We've been arguing ever since he got home. There's more to the story relationship wise but I left that for the relationships section.

Is this normal when a raging pot head runs out of his stash? Do you get withdrawal? I'm worried and pissed at how he acted towards me. I told him I want him to get counseling because if you have to resort to benzos cuz you're out of pot then there's a deeper issue there.

I've smoked daily (like 1-2g daily) for about 3 years. Currently 4 days sober lol. I'm doing ok atm, a little uncomfortable but using clonazepam & the odd AP mind you my mood has been reasonably stable for a few months now. In the past when I've gone without I have become very agitated, irritable & dysphoric, generally mad at the world. I've lashed out physically at my partner for keeping it from me at times, so I would say that yes he probably does have an addiction & is likely withdrawing (I'm no dr though). They say it's equal to tobacco withdrawal which is probably true, I would say it's somewhat more intense though. I have minimal appetite & difficultly sleeping, some rapid changes in mood & energy too. I'm sorry he's taking it out on you.

Depression is common in early recovery. I am proud of you guys. What do you think the ideal level of use is for you and/or your boyfriend? Are you hoping to return to the good ole days before addiction when it was all fun? Or are you looking to stay away from drug use altogether?

Good luck,

moogs

I'm staying away from everything but pot right now. No drinking either. Maybe one day down the road I'll be able to have just one drink with dinner but not anytime soon. I feel guilty just thinking about it. I don't even want it around me. So yea all we both do is smoke but not always for me. There's better highs than pot IMO but I won't go towards any of that.

It's hard to say based on what I do notice. I've seen him smoke a whole blunt and I'm like "whoa calm down". That would have me blasted lol. I can understand a few puffs here and there throughout the day. I just hope he's not smoking that much on the way in to work or something. Maybe I'm just a lightweight.

Does him being high at work present any hazards to him or others? I know in many cases if you get hurt, they will drug test you and deny you benefits or try and take any professional licenses you hold.

I hope he cuts back and makes you feel less anxious about it.

He doesn't do any heavy lifting but he supervises people that do. And yes if he did get hurt on the job they're policy is to drug test. I worry about that.
