Does anyone else struggle with an addiction to caffeine. When I first wake up in the morning the first thing I go for is some type of pop. I hardly ever if ever drink water. I get really bad withdraw headaches without pop and I get really angry when my fiance tries to take pop away from me. I spend most of my paycheck after my bills are paid of course on pop. Has anyone struggled with this problem and if you no longer do how did you beat it. I want to have a baby within the next year my fiance has said unless I can kick my caffeine addiction he will not get me pregnant because he is worried what my current addiction could do to an unborn baby. I need help to kick this addiction. I just can't put pop down and say I won't drink it. I have tried it and the minute the withdraw headaches kick in I go straight for another pop. If there is no pop in the house I will search the house and even steal my fiance's change that he tries to save to feed my addiction. I need real solutions that work. I just wish I could kick it so I can have the life I dream of having with my fiance.

I have been hooked on caffeine for many years. I start my day with a sugar free NOS energy drink and sometimes have another one in the afternoon, or else diet dew or coffee.

I have tapered down before to just coffee and tea. It is not easy. Caffeine is hard to reduce or kick altogether. I suggest tapering to avoid the headaches being severe, and the lethargy.

See I am so bad on it now that even if I do drink it I am tired no matter how much sleep I get I am always tired. It really scares me making me think that me drinking so much caffeine has destroyed my brain to the point that I am tired all the time. I have cut back a lot my fiance did the math when we first got together he was spending almost $200 dollars a month on $.86 fountain pops for just me alone and back then they were only $.76. That's almost 9 fountain pops a day. I am now down a little but I still drink like 2 $.86 fountain pops a day and then may be 2 or 3 $1.00 pops a day at work and then when I get off at midnight I usually go to bed at 3 and if there is can pops in the house I drink 4 or 5 of them in 3 hours. I will try to taper down more but it is hard to keep doing it.

I know what you mean about feeling like you will always be tired. At one time I got up over 2000mg daily caffeine and when i cut down to 400mg a day it seemed like i would never have energy again but slowly over time I did.

You didnt mention if you drink diet soda or sugar. I know the sugar is hard to kick. I switched to diet in 2011 and it took awhile.

I drink up to four energy drinks a day. I totally get it. Without it I'm a zombie. The minute I wake up I grab one out of the fridge. I don't even want to think about all the money I'm wasting. And i always wake up with headaches.

I used to drink a pot of coffee (or more) a day. I went through withdrawal and the headaches were like heavy migraines, but I was done in about two days. I never went back.

I used to have the addiction to coffee the same way , what i did was do an alternative drink like lets say in my case tea or even try other drinks without caffeine like natural drinks
it takes 30 days to fight an addiction but for some it may be sooner.

I would also try to remove pop and set up a small goals and trying to reach them weekly.

Every day, Every morning...
I tried to substitute it with something else but it didn't help. Now I'm trying to drink water with the coffee bean every morning with my eyes closed and it helps a little bit.
Your brain thinks that you drink coffee but it doesn't see it at all only smell and taste a little bit.

Caffeine is one of a few addictions that I worry about but it's on the bottom of my "to do" list as far as dealing with.

I wonder if it would help if you switched to coffee or tea? It might help you taper down and it sounds like you need to do something. I agree that postponing pregnancy until you can get thru the day without a pop is probably the right thing to do.

The reason I suggest coffee or tea is because if you don't really like it, you may drink less. And if you drink your coffee black, you are also cutting down on sugar or aspartame. And neither of those would be good for a baby, either.

or drink pop without caffiene in it...you get the same test...no effect.

To start off...taper off the caffinated pop...by having 1 can of caffienated when you wake up..and then the rest...not caffinated.
