Woman, 22, gets 10 years in drunken driving death of WMU student

Yup..I knew a young woman that got 10 years for killing 2 older ladies while drunk driving. And she didn't even REMEMBER the accident.

And all that said, I continued to drive drunk for years after meeting her.

Its very unreal that alcohol is legal and POT is not...just makes no frigin sense.

As a convicted drunk driver I feel very blessed to have not killed anyone. Got lucky asf.

Me too. I gave up drunk driving years ago, but it still scares me that I could have killed someone. I got lucky, never had a wreck and never got a DUI.

I disagree that pot is any better since the only time I tried it I was buzzed too much to drive.

In today's local newspaper there was a story about a woman behind the wheel with her daughter in the backseat. When pulled over, the woman blew a .377...four times the legal limit (.4 is considered close to a lethal dose of alcohol). The woman's daughter was taken by Child Protective Services; chances are, her mother will lose custody of the child. Thus, the little girl will suffer as a result of her mother's irresponsibility. There are many types of victims when one gets behind the wheel drunk or impaired.

Most of us alcoholics drove drunk with our children in the car at some time if we care to admit it.

All due respect gaylegg..but maybe pot wasn't safer for you....but it certainly IS 100% safer for me...I don't really get buzzed that bad on weed..I get calm.

And one drink ALWAYS leads to 1000 for me...so yea....pot is WAY better for many....all drugs affect everyone differently..but ALCOHOL? You drink more than 2 drinks....it is not safe to drive for anyone..

Also...thou you CAN get a DUI for smoking pot and driving too.

I shiver at the thought that I drove my kids everyday in the car drunk...foot ball, basketball practices, etc.

I drove to teacher meetings drunk.

I drank beer IN the hospital when my son had open heart surgery. And driving others too and from the room

I drove my Grandmother, mother , father, sister, niece, nephwes, neighborhood kids, etc.... in the car drunk.

I drove and drove and drove drunk.

If anyone is lucky it is me and anyone that drove with me.

You're right there...at least in my case. I really didn't mean to sound self-righteous; it's important for me to remind myself where I came from. I've had to make many amends for actions I took when I was still drinking.

I'll admit that I drove drunk an awful lot, and got into a bunch of car crashes, but the police never caught on that I'd been drinking so I never got a DUI. I'm just grateful now, that I didn't kill anyone. When I look back on it, it's pretty scary.

I never drove drunk, but my mother being an alcoholic did it more than enough, sometimes with me in the car. And also other adults found it normal to drive after drinking way too much. I always thought that this is how the denial works: driving drunk is ok and as long as there are no consequences to it, why would the addict stop doing it?
