I woke up this morning absolutely craving alcohol. I want a drink so badly. But I'm not going to. I don't want to screw up my life any more than it's screwed up. I don't want to go backwards. So I'm going to gut it out and not pick up.

Just taking it an hour at a time.

Really strong craving for alcohol this morning

Thats a really bad feeling to wake up wanting or needing alcohol.

Is it because you drank last night? Or you haven't drank in a while?

I hope you can push thru it.

Damn, I surely hope you can take a Xanax or any other Benzo, to help you get through the day.

Thanks Missy, McCarrolmike, and Introvrtd1.

I've been sober now for 1 year and 2 weeks - it'll be 3 weeks tomorrow. That's part of why this is so weird, I normally don't get cravings anymore. I've been hanging out on-line at recovery sites, and happily the cravings passed at about 11 am, but it was a darn uncomfortable 4 hours.

Just going to stay focussed on recovery today, reading recovery literature.

Additiction F**** sucks.

You ain't lying about how addiction sucks. I'm going through it myself.

Anyways, I'm happy that the awful cravings have passed.

splitimage..yea...when I was sober for 8 years..the first year was hell.
Then finally in the 2nd year I had no cravings.

Its much easier to fight a craving when you have sober time under your belt...than it is when you are in the chaos of addiction....I'm glad I am a month away from it....
