A few months back, there was some interest in having a recovery chat here on PC. DocJohn approved it, but there wasn't enough interest. Someone has asked me about it again....so would anyone be interested in doing this? The way I had planned on doing it before was to create a private room and PM the password to interested members and then setting a convenient time. So let me know! We could do a 12-step chat or a general recovery chat

Thanks,
Rayna

I would participate as long it is sometime in the evening. I suggest a general recovery chat where we can talk about recovery related issues including the 12 steps but not limit it just to the 12 steps. Esp for people like me who don't go to AA.

Yeah thats kinda what I was thinkin. We'll have to figure out what time zones everyone is in and what time/evening works.

I don't know time zones....I'm in Arizona hahaha. Unfortunately the earliest I'm really available in the evenings is 8pm my time.....so I'm not sure if that will be too late for everyone else. I could try to make it home by 7 my time maybe on Tuesdays.

So Tuesdays at 7pm my time would work, or Wednesdays at 8pm my time.

I'd love that. I like the idea of having it general 'recovery', so it can be inclusive, that may be better for inviting people in, like that way all they'd need is a desire to recover from whatever they're recovering from.

thanks for being proactive in this Raynaadi. Recovery Chat

it would be so great for me as I sort of feel like I belong to a worldwide felllowship of 1 at the minute.

What times work best for others? 8 PM is better for me--it may be difficult for me to get home by 7PM, but I would make the effort--maybe have to join a little late. Tuesdays are good days. I can't do Mon or Wed.

Another thought...do we want it to be password protected? Is there anyway to declare it recovery chat without using a password? Or maybe post the password here in the recovery forum for anybody who might be interested in recovery issues?

One of the most significant parts of my recovery is helping out the newcomer...it helps me stay sober.

Just a thought. I'll come with or without a password.

Very good point DePressMe. Originally I had thought of doing it with a password because at the time, there was some "harassment" in this forum. But there hasn't been lately, so it would probably be ok.

I'm sure it would take some time to get the kinks worked out. We can try it without and then if there's any issues we can change it.

So....so far DePressMe is the only one who's said what time is good. Remember this will be Arizona time...I don't know time zones....so think about how far ahead or behind me you are when determining what time we should do it.

I'm available Tuesdays at 7 or Wednesdays at 8. Arizona time. Wednesdays would be prime for me, but I know folks 3 hours ahead of me might struggle with that.

Also, Arizona doesn't change for Daylight savings time. So we should be come up on less of a time difference then right? I don't know, that always messes me up cuz we don't change here haha.

I'm keeping a list of everyone who's interested and I've gotten some PM's as well, so this might work this time! Yay!!! Mel and I talked about doing this months ago.

So lets see what the consensus is and then we'll try to start it next week! Sweet!!!!

Another thought about the time is that on Tuesdays I could skip my AA meeting since this would be like a meeting, just not totally an AA meeting, then we could do it earlier.

I'm going to be returning to work soon, but don't know for sure when or what time I'll be off.

But....DocJohn has his chat on Tuesdays. So.....maybe Tuesday is out.

I've run this idea by DocJohn again just to make sure its ok. I definitely can't interfere with his chats though, so it might have to be Wednesday at 8pm. We figured out that DePressMe and I are 3 hours apart, so thats gonna be awfully late.....hmmmmmmm..........ideas?

We could have the chat after DocJohns chat. That would make it late enough for you in Arizona, but not too late here in the midwest/Ohio area.

Weds are probably out for me. But, if that works best for everybody else then I will try to make it when I can...

Tuesdays sounds best so far. We'll run it by DocJohn and see if 7pm Arizona time conflicts with his chat.

Mornings are out for me too. Recovery Chat

I'm taking the weekend off from PC. Just need some time away. I'll be back Monday so if anyone has anymore ideas about the chat, just shoot me a PM or post here and I'll get them Monday.

(((( Everyone )))))

I'd be up for a chat - I think 7 pm in arizona is 10 pm here in
Toronto, so I'd be back from my AA meeting by then.

I would love to participate. Is it only for substance issues or a broader audience? Wednesday nights are fine for me. I'm EST but would make the time to get support on proactively moving forward in my life.

Thanks for being willing to do it. Please let me know if/when it starts up.

Since I was away this weekend I haven't had a chance to follow up on times, so I'm not sure we'll be able to do it this week. I've gotta make sure that Tuesday at 7pm my time is ok around DocJohn's chats. Its possible we'll start it tomorrow.....just not quite sure yet.

Once a month I work the AA hotline, and my shift this month is tomorrow....so the 4th Tuesdays I won't be able to do the chat, so hopefully we'll start it next week. I had totally forgotten about my hotline shift until I got the reminder call.

Ok I just double checked when DocJohn's chat is and compared it to the time in Tucson so we should be able to do the chat Tuesday nights at 7pm my time. To see what time it is here so you can compare it to what time it is where you are, follow this Link

We'll start it next Tuesday October 2nd. I'll open a room and call it Recovery Chat and we'll keep it non-password protected and see how it works out!!
