The wife told me I've got to get some help, the drinking isn't helping my diabetes or bipolar disorder. I'm not in the best place, mentally, coming off a manic event and feeling pretty depressed as is and I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the thought of never having another drink. Like it's just some ingrained part of my personality. I'm not sure, I'll probably be admitted to the psych ward tomorrow for a few days and I'm sure they'll have some support there but I'm just feeling very lonely and isolated at the moment, just needed to vent I guess.

Hello rewrite: to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

P.S. I've been hospitalized twice... both involuntary commitments following suicide attempts. The hospitalizations weren't great experiences. But they did keep me safe at times when I couldn't do so myself. Following my first hospitalization I attended a partial hospital program. Following the second, I just came home & picked up where I left off. I think it's important, when you're ready to leave the hospital, to have something lined up in the way of ongoing support. Otherwise it's easy to simply fall back into the same old patterns. I wish you well...
Thanks for this!
