So here I am wrapped up in another mess. I was put back on benzos last xmas when I went to the ER with a massive panic attack. Right off the bat i started abusing them. I’d get drunk and just pop them like candy then wake up the next day to count them and see that I screwed myself. It’s not a huge amount but if I don’t at least take 1mg Ativan each day then I get into withdrawal that is so uncomfortable and depressing. I’d get up at 3am to take a shower and wash off all the cold sweat. That’s the worst!

My question is, how long would the (physical) withdrawal last? I know 1mg ain’t **** but for some reason I still get sick. I’m prescribed 2mg a day AS NEEDED only. My pdoc gets mad if I tell her I’m taking it every day. I just want to detox so it’s out of my system and I won’t have to worry about taking it every day. I don’t even get a buzz anymore.
Hugs from:

Thanks for this!

Can you cut them? I weaned off adderall with ever smaller pieces. It isn't as bad, though; mostly "just" monster headaches when I tried cold turkey. I was lucky I didn't OD on BC powders.

Yes if I’m having a good day with no symptoms then I crack a pill in half (.5mg). Sometimes though I’ll still get sick later. Every day, 9 times out of ten, I start feeling sick around the middle of the day.

I'm sorry you're going through this, RxQueen. Despite being a recovering alcoholic, my pdoc prescribes klonopin for anxiety, to be taken as needed (I suffer from anxiety, too). He says, however, that the government is really scrutinizing how pdocs prescribe benzos these days. I wish yours could provide something that works, but won't get you further hooked. I think many pdocs are starting to feel their hands are tied. Keep us posted...Let us know how you're feeling. It sometimes helps to have a place to vent.
Thanks for this!
