Haw many of you have ever tried a good detox program? I cannot seem to find one in my state only very expensive ones out of state that look very good but like $600 a night. Figures.

I didn't go through a detox, I detoxed alone. I've since tried to help friends in to detox and it is extremely hard.....its sad how expensive it is. Do you have medical insurance? It seems that those with medical insurance have a harder time....

I've had to do medically supervised detox 4 times. Once was covered by insurance, and the other 3 were covered by my provincial health insurance. it depends on what your addicted to, and how badly your addicted whether or not you need supervised detox. If it's alcohol and you get really bac shakes when you don't drink, I'd recommend it, because you can be at risk of a seizure from stopping. Cost sucks but have you tried looking into charities like the salvation army, I know here they do a lot of drug and alcohol treatment programs and they might be an option.

Good luck.

Hi FelineHeart, I have detoxed 4 times. Luckily, insurance covered them. There are some supervised day detox programs. I never qualified for one of them because I was a high risk for seizures (heavy drinker). You might check into some day programs--they cost less. Generally, you are there all day long and they allow you to go home to sleep. Depending on your detox needs, it might be an option.

I hope you can find something soon...sobriety is a wonderful thing!
